- To verify someone's educational background it is necessary to contact the
registrar of his/her college, university or professional school.
Virtually all registrar's offices are glad to verify that a given individual
is among their graduates or students. You'll usually need full name and date
or approximate date of graduation. In a large institution, you may also need
to know which college the individual graduated from (e.g., College of Engineering,
College of Arts &Sciences, etc.). Some registrars will verify correctness
of information you already have regarding grade point average or class ranking,
though they may not be willing to provide the information themselves.
The following websites will link you to the websites of virtually all U.S.
institutions of higher education. These sites, in turn, will provide the basic
contact information you need.
